Find Your Everyday
Balance
When did you last feel truly at ease in your own body — not distracted, not braced against the day, but genuinely settled?
We live in bodies that are constantly responding to the world around us. Every rushed commute, every tense conversation, every hour hunched over a screen leaves a residue — a subtle tightening, a slight holding of breath, a nervous system that never quite gets to exhale. Over time, this becomes our baseline. We call it normal. We stop noticing.
On Saturday 16th May, SOMAdublin invites you to press pause. Everyday Balance: Somatic Movement for Calm and Clarity is a full day of guided somatic movement designed to help you reconnect with your body’s own innate intelligence — and walk away with practical tools you can bring into the everyday.
What Is Somatic Movement?
The word somatic comes from the Greek soma, meaning the living body as experienced from within. Unlike exercise that focuses on appearance or performance, somatic movement is about sensation — noticing what’s actually happening inside you, and gently working with it rather than pushing through it.
Somatic practices can shift long-held patterns of tension, calm an overactive nervous system, and restore a sense of groundedness that stress tends to erode. And because the work is internal rather than effortful, it’s accessible to absolutely everyone — regardless of age, fitness level, or prior experience.
How the Day Is Structured
The workshop is designed as two complementary sessions that flow naturally together. You’re welcome to attend just the morning as a standalone introduction, or stay for the full day and give yourself the gift of a mini somatic retreat.
Introduction to Somatic Movement
10:00 – 13:00 · 3 hours
A gentle entry point into somatic practice. You’ll be guided through foundational movement explorations, learn to tune into subtle body signals, and begin to understand how your nervous system shapes your day-to-day experience.
Deepening Your Practice
14:00 – 17:00 · 3 hours
Building on the morning’s foundation, the afternoon session moves into richer territory — deeper self-regulation tools, integrative movement, and space to consolidate what you’ve discovered into a personal practice you can sustain.
What You’ll Discover
- How to reduce physical and mental tension through guided somatic movement
- Simple, evidence-informed breathing tools for self-regulation throughout the day
- How to restore genuine rest — not just sleep, but true nervous system recovery
- Mindful awareness practices that support greater clarity and ease
- Accessible, everyday tools you can use at home, at work, or on the go
Come as you are, and leave with everyday practices to help you feel centred, calmer, and more at ease in yourself.
Who Is This For?
Everyone. That’s not a cliché — it’s the nature of the work. Somatic movement asks nothing of you except your curiosity and willingness to slow down. You don’t need any prior experience, and there’s no particular level of fitness required. The practices are suitable for all bodies, all ages, and all starting points.
Whether you’re navigating burnout, managing ongoing stress, recovering from injury, exploring movement for the first time, or simply craving a day to reconnect with yourself — this workshop holds space for all of it.
Why Now?
Spring is a natural time to recalibrate. After months of winter’s inward pull, our bodies are ready to move again — but often, we leap straight into doing without pausing to check in. This workshop offers that pause: a chance to meet yourself where you actually are, rather than where you think you should be.
In a world that profits from your distraction and exhaustion, choosing to spend a Saturday in your own body is a quiet act of care. And the practices you’ll leave with aren’t workshop-only tools — they’re designed for the school run, the work meeting, the difficult conversation, the 3am wakeup. Real life. Everyday balance.
